X is added when FDA has published a specific safety concern for the substance in compounding (the Category 2 page under section 503A or 503B, whether the substance is currently listed or shown as nominated but withdrawn), or when an approved product carries a warning of similar weight.

The grade is not a quality score and not a recommendation. It answers one question: what kind of human evidence exists for the use people ask about? Read the methodology page for the rules and their limits.

Assumptions, checked September 4, 2026

  • Regulatory status comes from FDA's 503A bulks page and category lists (May 14, 2026), the Category 2 safety-risk page (April 22, 2026), the PCAC meeting pages, Drugs@FDA and DailyMed. FDA moves substances between categories; the page date is the status date.
  • Studies are those we could locate in PubMed with the search terms shown on each peptide page. A count of zero means we found none, not that none can exist.
  • Studies of a related molecule (full-length thymosin beta-4 for TB-500, oral nicotinamide riboside for NAD+, epithalamin for epitalon) are shown but not counted toward the grade.
  • This tool contains no dosing information and none of the entries graded C or D is a medicine a pharmacy may lawfully dispense unless FDA's status changes.

This calculator is an arithmetic aid for medication a licensed prescriber has already prescribed. It does not recommend a dose. Confirm any result with your prescriber or pharmacist before use.
